The wild azalea near the edge of the wood is blooming; the scent, picked up by a breeze, surrounds me as I return from my walk in the woods. An early hummingbird hovers.
The wild azalea was one of my mother's favorite rites of spring..she would say "It's time for the Pinks...let's take a walk."
Across the road and up the lane, past the Old Butternut Tree. There, in the middle of a one acre swamp stood a giant pink bush giving off a glorious honeysuckle scent!
